Wetlands

A few years back our local parks department here in Washington County Oregon decided to set aside a marshy area under nearby powerlines as a linear park. They built a system of boardwalks out over the wetlands to extend a miles-long hiking trail that encircles the area.  Lucky for me, it's just a short walk from my home so I visit the wetlands most days during all seasons and weather. I stop to listen to the birds, particularly the red-winged blackbirds which dance across the land. A family of nutria has made their home here, as have lots of mallard ducks, and recently a blue heron found her way to the water. There are no fish so perhaps the heron won't find a home in the marsh.

I take lots of photos and am working from my photos in my studio, trying to capture my emotional response to the land and its creatures.

I hope you like the results and find something for yourself. Email or message me with any questions you have.
